About The Role
We’re looking for a smart, curious, and driven Legal & Compliance Intern to support critical legal operations at our early-stage digital platform. You'll play a hands-on role in ensuring we meet Zambian regulatory requirements while helping shape and secure our intellectual property, privacy compliance, and vendor/legal frameworks.

What You’ll Do
Assist with business registration and DPA license filings to ensure lawful operation in Zambia.
Assist in developing PII handling frameworks for data storage, cross-border processing, and lawful exceptions and permission.
Track regulatory developments and support preparation of compliance updates and legal opinions.
Draft, review, and maintain contracts including employment agreements (in line with Zambian labor law and relevant global frameworks.), NDAs, and non-solicit clauses.
Prepare and customize platform-specific documents such as Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and EULA.
Help create policies for payments, refunds, chargebacks, KYC, and safeguarding user data.
Support the development of user-facing documents including data breach protocols and disclaimers.
Coordinate legal documentation and obligations with third-party vendors and service providers.
Conduct research and assist with intellectual property registration, trademark filings, and IP licensing.
Communicate with regulatory bodies and assist in managing statutory filings and application processes.
Ensure legal compliance of mobile and web platforms, including cookie notices and app store policies.
Provide ongoing advisory support to the founder on compliance and regulatory strategy.
Must-Have Skills
LLB Degree from a recognized university (required)
Postgraduate Diploma in Law from ZIALE (preferred, but final-year students or recent graduates awaiting ZIALE results may be considered)
Strong understanding of the Zambian legal system, especially the Data Protection Act, IP law, and regulatory compliance frameworks
Demonstrated interest in tech, privacy, and startup ecosystems
Prior internship or academic experience in legal drafting, regulatory filings, or contract law (preferred)
Excellent research and writing skills with high attention to detail
Ability to work with confidential information and maintain professional discretion
Proactive, self-motivated, and willing to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration
Membership in the Law Association of Zambia (LAZ), or eligible to register (preferred)
